Those days when 24 hours isn't enough...!

Yeah we know, everyone has them, those days where you could do with 48 hours to get everything done, where you're rushing around trying to fit everything in and keep everyone happy, the last few days seem to have been 'one of those days'....

Well the shipment from Far East came through after spending Easter at Heathrow, as we suspected the 'Yu-Gi-Oh Money Boxes' turned out to be Remote Controlled Yugi's!! Even though the supplier insisted they were Money Boxes when we made further investigations!! They are pretty cool and quirky, we've decided to only sell them at the shop though.
Due in today, Gogo's Crazy Bones, these have been out in the States for quite a while now, but only recently launched here in the UK. They are the perfect pocket money item, with 'boosters' and 'sticker albums' at 99p and 'Crazy Bone Pouch sets' at £1.50. As well as collectable, there are quite a few games to be played with them (based on the ancient game called Tabas), check them out HERE. Other items coming in include the very popular High School Musical 2 Trading cards, Pokemon series 3 'Ash's Adventure' Gacha, and some Pokemon TCG 'Secret Wonders' boosters.
With the 'not-so-pleasant' Easter weather still holding out (probably until the kids go back to school!) , there's plenty to keep us busy, and next week, fingers crossed, we'll eventually get our mits on the Gazillion Bubbles we ordered, and the new Yu-Gi-Oh Gold series too.

Lost in Translation

Well the Zizzlingers (and YuGiOh Money Boxes / Remote Controlled Yugi !!!?? We'll have to wait and see them when we get them, we're convinced something has been 'lost in translation'.) hit the UK on Good Friday, they are currently showing as 'Awaiting Customs Charge' at Heathrow, guess they landed at the wrong time, but we ordered them on the 8th, so i guess 'sods law' dictated they should arrive over a bank holiday weekend!!!!

One thing that our youngest son was most pleased with over the Easter weekend was playing Pogs, the basic 'idea' of the game (if you've never seen them) is quite simple, stack up your Pogs face down and use the 'slammer' to try and knock as many as you can over face up, the player then keeps those Pogs, and you stack the rest up again. Simple but fun, and with 60 different Pogs to collect and various designs of Slammers, he was well occupied, at 50p per packet (5 pogs & 1 slammer) his pocket money reserves weren't too stretched either!!!! Check out all the Pocket Money ideas at ToyToyjac here.

Legendary cards such as "Jinzo", “Don Zaloog", "Mirror Force" and "Crush Card Virus" will also be making their return with this set which will make this a must have item for players and collectors alike. The unique cards along with the new high end packaging makes the Gold Series perfect for collectors or current Duelists seeking to increase the rarity and prestige of their Decks. - "25 cards per pack / First ever Hobby exclusive / Unique gold technology / Contains hard to get and tournament level cards". With a rrp of £12.99, they're not for the faint hearted, but as always we'll be knocking a pound or so off :)...... you can check out our current Yu-Gi-Oh stocks HERE.

Come on you Reds, Blues, Reds.....!!

Ok.... with Good Friday only days away, and most of our pre orders (Gazillion Bubbles & Zizzlingers etc) looking like they are not going to arrive in time, we've decided to get a few new items for the shop in time for the kids breaking up. So the new arrivals this week will include Football Monopoly in Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool editions, Monopoly is such an iconic game, and these limited edition football themed sets look really cool, with you buying and selling players, and building stands instead of houses and hotels. Other items coming are Tinkerbell Gacha, POGS, and a few Lil'Kinz...... Chocolate eggs never looked so dull :).......

Poking about.....

Among the fantastic arrivals this week are these 'Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Mini Plushies - Series 2" , the first set have proved quite a hit in the shop so these new characters shouldn't last too long... Coming with them we've got some of the new Pokemon TCG Spring 2008 collectors tins and 4 Pocket Pokemon folders. Yu-Gi-Oh fans will not be left out, with the arrival of 'Strike of Neos' special edition sets. New arrivals in our favourite 'Gashapon' Department are 'Disney Cars' Gacha, which each come in their very own tin box!! ...cool.
And finally we've got a couple 'Pit Crew figures' to pop into the Designer Vinyl section in 'Ferrari' and 'Honda' flavours, these normally retail at £19.99 but like always we'll be knocking a bit off!!! , expect to see them at around £12.99 each... In the meantime check out our favourites in the Gacha Department Here.

Zizzling Money Saving Ideas!!

OK, with Easter racing up to greet us with it's chocolate flavoured lips we've had another look at what's new in the 'Land of the Rising Sun', a couple of items have taken our fancy, the first being Zizzlingers (in Marvel and Disney Pixar variations), we can't recall them making an impact here in the UK, though we know they are pretty big in the USA, each pack contains a sachet which you pop into warm water, then with much fizzing and 'zizzling' mini collectable figures appear in the water!

Another little gem took our eye in the guise of this Yu-Gi-Oh Money Box, with every new release of the Trading Card Game being snapped up by eager players, it can turn into an expensive hobby, what better way to save for the next release than with your very own Yugi Money Box. We've put in an enquiry to see what numbers they have in stock (it isn't worth it if they halve the numbers we want (which isn't uncommon!!)), and we doubt they'll arrive before Easter if we decide to order. Edit - we've decided to go ahead anyway, so whatever the quantity, fingers crossed we'll be receiving these goodies around Easter time :)......... Edit (12/3/08) - Even though described as a Yu-Gi-Oh Money Box by the supplier, we have a sneaking feeling these Yugi toys are in fact Remote controlled toys!!! lol.... we have emailed the supplier to check, but it looks like they have dispatched... so we'll wait and see when the parcel arrives!!

Toys 'n' Playthings

We received the latest issue of 'Toys 'n' Playthings' today, and it is a great trade publication for the toy industry, it provides a decent insight into the 'trends' , 'makers & shakers', and the 'losers' from the manufacturers right up to major and independent retailers. The 'trends' are something which always amaze us (to a certain degree), and a lot of the 'new big things' we wouldn't contemplate stocking (guess that's where we're going wrong!!! lol)... but seriously it is interesting, and you can check out their website HERE.

Toil and Trouble..

Bubble Bubble, Toil and Trouble.... Gazillion Bubbles are making the Cross Atlantic trip to the UK.. The Marketing Blurb says
"With its infinitely superior bubble solution, the extensive GAZILLION BUBBLES range is loved by all ages and Gazillion's claim that 'you will run out of breath before you run out of bubbles' has not been beaten yet! It includes cleverly designed 7-in-1 wands plus bubble guns and blowers, and motorised machines." Sounds cool to us, expect to see them at ToyToyjac near the end of March, retail prices are around £3.99 for the 'Babbling Bubbler' (shown) , £9.99 for the motorized 'Bubble Machine', and bottles of Bubbles from 99p..
